Was this review helpful? Familiar science fiction themes from other movies rehashed, but handled well. But it had enough intrigue, with a clever ending I didn't see coming, to keep me entertained.

42 out of 55 found this helpful. I agree that the plot definitely "borrowed" from several other movies, some of which were no where near as good as this one. Decent F/X and a story line that is not too far fetched to enjoy. I'd seen the name before, but honestly did not expect much, specifically because of the name, it's terrible and does not describe this movie at all. Kudos are also in order for the nifty special effects, Darko Suvak's slick cinematography, and Tim Jones' moody score. Was this review helpful? Uh oh, we have to run all the way to the lab and tell them not to open it because we don't have phones or radios or intercoms even though we have a gazillion dollars worth of other equipment here. Too late, Spader decyphers the message which is telling them not to disturb the vessel. Leave your brain behind at home, and watch this movie with some popcorn.

It's an okay movie, I haven't watched an alien movie in about two years and was pleasantly entertained but not floored. But while he is darling, his scenes are neither sexy nor particularly gripping--even though the twist ending is kinda cool. It felt like a big movie for tv. Was this review helpful? The most obvious is the spaceship taken from The Abyss, but there it was water, here it's forcefields or some other s**t so it doesn't count. The plot was similar to a number of other films as folks have mentioned, but sufficiently different enough to keep you guessing.

The premise is good and unique in some regards; this keeps the movie interesting. 6 out of 8 found this helpful. ALIEN HUNTER is still a great sci-fi film, 12 years after being put out originally in 2003. "Hey everybody! Good sci-fi movie. In an effort to say something positive, I'll add that there are some mildly entertaining special effects. For a made for TV movie, I thought it was well done and would recommend it to anybody who is looking for some decent scifi. J. Spader is good in it as expected.

But if you are looking for a fast-action thriller, this movie is not for you. I always seem to be impressed with him. The atmosphere was nice ... but so many things were taken from other recent movies. Loose ends do not get tidied up. While it would have been much better broadcast in HD (the channel was, the movie wasn't), it was good entertainment with which to start the weekend. I am not a huge scifi fan but I loved this movie. Great hook and set up, but the story falls apart at midpoint once the Pathogen is introduced and it became a race against the clock movie instead of what it started out to be, a sci-fi mystery. I don't know how I missed this one for all of these years, but it's just become one of my favorite sci-fi movies to date.Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2019 5 out of 10 found this helpful. However things go awry when the ice melts and the alien frozen inside is unleashed.

The story is slow and clunky--complete with a random scene of two feds explaining the background of the main characters, complete with mugshots of the actors so you don't get confused--an effort which is totally pointless and about as sophisticated as a high-school creative writing project!
