He is certainly helped by having the (clipped) words of a sympathetic genius to read.I don't usually pick up abridged versions of anything, but when I saw the cassettes at a yard sale for fifty cents I had to pick them up. JungErinnerungen, Träume, Gedanken = Memories, Dreams, Reflections, C.G. His analysis of Freud is particularly revealing- both damning and humanizing. Dr. Carl Gustav Jung was a trained psychiatrist whose unusual insights and mental/spiritual experiences slowly made him drift away from that profession into, mainly, the field of psychology. Seriously, for my birthday I got a t-shirt with Jung's big white face on it, and I wear it all the time. Yet, he has always been considered a radical, in his time and ours, for acknowledging the soul and its relation with the unconscious.I see Jung as a Buddha or Christ figure. To celebrate two decades of creating ambient and downtempo electronica under the name I learned a lot about Carl and feel my life has improved by reading this book.
Memories, Dreams, Reflections is that book, composed of conversations with his colleague and friend Aniela Jaffé, as well as chapters written in his own hand, and other materials. He highlights how influential Freud was in his theoretical development. At the end of the book are four appendixes, two of which are letters written to his wife when he was traveling in the US and then later in Africa. We’d love your help. It's very visI think it's a possibility. I don't fully accept Jung's world view but I've always admired him and appreciated his brilliant mind. He is certainly helped by having the (clipped) words of a sympathetic genius to read.Carl Gustav Jung (/jʊŋ/; German: [ˈkarl ˈɡʊstaf jʊŋ]), often referred to as C. G. Jung, was a Swiss psychiatrist and psychotherapist who founded analytical psychology.
But maybe that’s just me. This deals with his psychological theories in a much more personal way than his other work, and, as it is written in the twilight of his life, he has no fear of academic or personal reprisal. Also, I've read none of his salient scientific/psychological/philosophical work – nor am I likely to after this. Carl Gustav Jung began writing and telling the stories that would eventually become the book in 1957. As the cover says, it was "recorded and edited by Aniela Jaffe" between 1957 and his death in 1961. This book, Jung’s (quasi-)autobiography, was an ideal follow-up. I think his protege and successor Marie-Louise von Franz distills and presents Jung's ideas with more clarity. 7 His work has been influential in psychiatry and in the study of religion, philosophy, archeology, anthropology, lCarl Gustav Jung (/jʊŋ/; German: [ˈkarl ˈɡʊstaf jʊŋ]), often referred to as C. G. Jung, was a Swiss psychiatrist and psychotherapist who founded analytical psychology. However, he also puts distance between himself and Freud’s theories of sexuality. This is Jung's autobiography, which overall, I really enjoyed. As I am discovering more of Carl Jung, my respect for this intellectual giant keeps growing. But I think no less of him for I love this memoir because it is so deeply personal. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. I'm barely a casual reader, so this book was a bit difficult for me to read at times. Not that he’s a god, but that he provided us with a beautiful revelation about our meaning and spirituality. 315 global reviews | 111 global ratings An amazing man.I could probably learn something new each time I read this book, although, I might need a few years before I pick it up again.

Let us know what’s wrong with this preview of Is all to familiar. Some of it is a little out-there for me, such as his belief in alchemy and spirits and other such things; I've heard he may have been a tiny bit unhinged.

When the student is ready, the teacher will appear. I was also very impressed with his incredible drive- he felt that his life had a realy purpose that he was destined to fulfill, and he worked extremely hard to accomplish his goals.
He was an extraverted and successful scholar who decided on a career in medicine (psychiatry), but at the same time a deeply reflective, isolated person, prone to fantasizing. I was expecting an autobiography, but this book is not really that. They were delightfully creative and wellThis book is not an autobiography in the normal sense. But I've had my bone to pick with science for a long while now, and besides that the poet and the witch-girl that also dwell in me have now awakened and are screaming with joy. But it was his life's work to do it more analytically. In the first several chapters, Jung reflects on his childhood at length and considers how his development brought him to his theories. It is the most understandable book he has written and one I enjoy reading over and over! Anthony Stevens’ compact introduction to Jung’s work was an excellent curtain raiser. His spiritual views are beautiful, however, and I found them very inspiring. She therefore deserves much credit for producing a readable narrative which is quite entertaining, though not to be completely trusted. If this book shows us anything, it’s that Jung straddled the line between madman and mystic for his entire life.
