* Same Torpedoes used on Minsk, Lazo, Kiev, Chapayev. You aren't a Kitakaze or Harugumo that can just melt ships with 32mm pen, you want to be the fire starting annoyance that no one can hit due to your speed and heal. The thing with the Kiev and the later Russian DDs, is that a good bit of your damage comes from fires, and shatters can still cause fires. It also gives you an extra speed boost, which is an essential tool for your game play.Your primary mode of causing damage is setting fires. BFT vs SI is kinda up to you, faster reload/better aa vs having an extra heal and speed boost. The Kiev was good before, but with the heal, it's a monster.I'm grinding Kiev as well and this is my planned build (I run Ovechkin, heal over smoke and speed boost upgrade)IFHE would help in that it gives you over 27mm of HE penetration (if I were to take it, I'd drop PM and BFT), which means damage to Tier 7 and below battleships and most cruisers.BFT is better in carrier heavy games, DE better to burn everything down with no carriersNew comments cannot be posted and votes cannot be castA game about huge boats.
AFT allows you to do this by giving you a farther gun range ( it's 14.5km on the Kiev if i'm remembering correctly, 15.2km on the Taskent, and 13.5km on the Khabarovsk).PS: IFHE is not useful.

Link to post Share on … IFHE helps against T8+ cruisers (excluding Moskva and Stalingrad SerB) as well as all T6 and T7 battleships. Having Demolition Expert gives you a flat 10% fire chance, which can then be boosted up to 11% with India X-Ray and Victor Lima flags equipped.
Gunboats. You need to staying around the 12-max km range so you can actually dodge incoming shells. Plus, that's not your roll anyway. Upgrades: Main Armaments Mod 1, Aiming Systems Mod 1, Damage Control System Mod 1, Propulsion Mod 2. Tashkent and Khaba sure, but kiev?Yes, absolutely. IMO the ship shouldn't be engaged in knife-fights so EM isn't essential.
Kiev on Trap moves out to support the assault ... my Kiev was fully upgraded so decided to play it more.
