There was also the issue in her mind of her sister Sukey who had also disappeared – but Sukey’s disappearance occurred many years previously, just after WW2. In her confusion her mind keeps harking back to another disappearance, that of her married sister Sukey just after the war. Jonathan Coe: "One of those semi-mythical beasts, the book you cannot put down." The last third of the book is where the whole story comes together and the mystery surrounding what happened is revealed. It has really been an emotional experience to read it.I loved this book.
