My party of three booked the Taste Hungary 'Wine, Cheese and Charcuterie Tasting' experience to mark the end of five days in Budapest. The New Wine and Cheese Festival comes to the fairytale Vajdahunyad Castle in Budapest’s City Park on 24 November. Our guide, Ferenc, was a perfect host. We came hungry and left sated on food, drink and history! It was one of the highlights of our trip - amazing wine/food, lovely place and fantastic staff. We were glad we took the tour at the beginning of our visit! Loved our guide and each stop on our tour-central market, award winning chocolatier, outdoor stand up butcher shop for lunch, iconic pastry shop and Hungarian wine tasting. All the dishes were creative and palate pleasing. Each venue was a solid example of the value and excellence that is found in Hungary today, as well as a fun learning experience. And we had two more stops, one for brandies and digestives, then desserts and coffee. This tour was a little pricier than some of the other food tours we've done elsewhere, but we got tons of food and drink for the price. For wine lovers and foodies, for those celebrating anything, the options available with the incredible staff of Taste Hungary are unlimited. All rights reserved. First stop included an idyllic winetasting in rural setting. We were deposited at the doorstep of our Vienna hotel. Mark your favorites on a provided tasting sheet. A 'must do' when visiting this city. Packed with stalls offering spreads of local cheeses and bottles of újbor (young wine from the newest vintage), it’s the perfect occasion to learn about Hungarian wine and nibble on some craft cheese. Eating, drinking and great conversation...does it get any better? We spent a delightful evening with Barbara (guide), sampling excellent Hungarian wines and equally enjoyable cuisine, at multiple locations.
